Dave Flawse is a Canadian freelance writer based in Union Bay, BC. He is a third-year student at Vancouver Island University where he takes creative writing and journalism. In Spring 2019 he interned as a reporter at the Comox Valley Record, a local newspaper. Dave has also been published in CV Collective, a local lifestyle magazine.
Besides journalism, Dave writes fiction and poetry. He submits to writing contests and literary magazines regularly. He is a member of the Comox Valley Writers Society where he shares his work for reading and critiquing.
Dave volunteers for writing events including Fat Oyster Reading Series in Fanny Bay, BC, and most recently at the BCFW “Where Will your Words Take you?” in Nanaimo, BC. As well, he volunteers his time to help publish his community newsletter.
Dave’s writes at his desk while his dog, Mika snores away beside him. When he isn’t writing, he can be found skiing on Mt. Washington in the winter, or mountain biking and playing slow pitch the rest of the year.
Dave’s next goal is to be published in a literary magazine for his fiction work.
